On this page I wish to discuss some known experimental evidence about Reiki and Energy Healing. But let me first say a little about my struggle the last ten years (as of the fall of 2003) of learning Healing.
In my childhood upbringing, my family was split around spiritual matters. My father is somewhere between agnostic and atheistic, does not attend church, while my mother had several mystical experiences and a strong spiritual life both inside and outside church experience. Further, her father was the Pastor of several congregations during his life and in her upbringing their whole family was heavily involved with church activities. This came to me as a struggle between denying and openly accepting the spiritual life and practices. And, as a result, I have been looking for "proof", having an internal voice of denial paired with the internal voice of acceptance, and an internalized war.
This split is also true in society. Modern western society has pretty deeply embraced the scientific method. The core of scientific method is to proceed and accept only on provable objective evidence that is repeatable. Yet, spiritual activities tend to contradict the ability to achieve proof acceptable to the scientific method. Hence the acceptance of spiritual healing, be it Reiki or other forms of Energy Healing, is hindered by the need for scientific proof.
