I've not heard many Reiki practitioners speak on this area, that of guiding spirits leading the presence and use of Reiki. We all know the story of Usui going up the mountain and having his experiences which brought him knowledge of Reiki, but where did Reiki come from before that? Who set together the pattern of light which he studied about and encountered in his experience on the mountain? Was this planned by spirit, or did it just happen?
I believe that all things are planned by spirit in the most excruciating detail. There's a dance between free choice and predetermination, and I believe that both are active at the same time and that they are just different levels of perception of the same thing. It seems that here in the 3D world we exist in, there is lots of choice we can employ in our lives but most of us subjugate our power of choice o those "more important" to us, our job, political leaders and the super rich or famous. So you can say the choice we employ is to not exercise our own power of choice. If you look behind that facade you find the same patterns of power struggle that have existed for aeons, have been written about in many books, etc. Here we see universal patterns playing out and this is somewhat predetermined. If you look behind that facade you see we have the power to choose a different pattern, to step out of patterns altogether and just remember the completeness of our true nature. Now we are back at choice.
What this has to do with Usui's trip up the mountain and Reiki is the choice he employed in that moment and what happened behind the scenes. At the pure physical level what is described is accurate, Usui studied for a long time, came to a point where he needed meditation to clarify his learning, and met with this cosmic experience that clarified his learning beyond his imagination. So what was the force that guided him up the mountain and helped him to this experience? Usui doesn't say and perhaps his personality did not know, or if he did know it may not have seemed important to describe that facet. After all the greatest importance in having the gift of Reiki is to share it with others.
I've had some experiences which I'd like to share that I think sheds light upon this question. The result of these experiences is a belief that there is a group of spirits who had been people in Tibet in the days before Buddhism (in the time of the Bon religion). These people were greatly evolved spiritually and saw forward to this time and decided to create an energy pattern that would be used to assist us in this time. This energy pattern is what we call Reiki, and the group of spirits joined collectively to guide the use and spread of Reiki.
My first awareness of this was shortly before I became a Reiki master myself. I had received my level II training in february but did not feel ready to become a Master. I felt there was healing for me to do before that was appropriate, and that taking the step to become a Reiki Master is one that should be undertaken with great care rather than in a mad rush. So I waited.
I know some very clairvoyant healers, one is the person who taught me Reiki and another is a fellow student of hers and also a fellow student at the Barbara Brennan School of Healing. At the reiki exchange they were both giving me a healing and one started introducing me to the "ascended master" spirits who had joined her around the table and said something like "What a great honor, the Reiki Master has joined us". This was the first step to awareness of this. I did not know what she meant and wasn't directly aware of the spirits she was referring to, but I had experienced enough of spirit at that point to stay myself from doubt and the rejection of truth that comes from doubt. I did take the presence of the "Reiki Master", whatever/whoever that was, to be a sign that I was then ready to take Reiki Master training.
Another time I was taking master training with another teacher. He had, a few years previous, spent time training with Rosalyn Bruyere. Rosalyn channels Master Chang who is 'from' the pre-buddhist period of tibet (the Bon people), and she is recognized as a Bon Oracle. Dan was at times asking Master Chang for information regarding the creation of Reiki. Where in history was the pattern formed? Why? What information he received is that thousands of years ago the people of Tibet could manifest things with pure thought and that what we now know as the Reiki Symbols they would project in the air as a three dimensional form. Over time the people began to forget how to project the symbols in mid air and had to write them down. I would suppose that around that time a group of those people joined to 'preserve' some of the learning in a teachable form.
When I began teaching reiki on my own I would have my own experience of contact with a spirit who seemed to be guiding Reiki itself. One time the spirit kept suggesting the student was already a Reiki Master and I should just train her for that. Contact with this spirit drove a lot of the information I have published here in the Reiki Page. Most especially that writing about charging for Reiki (BTW, if you read it carefully, you see that writing takes no particular stance one way or the other, but that doesn't stop people from reading into it the taking of a stance). Another time was a dream upon awakening concerning the pattern of development Reiki has in mind for the society (this dream is the vision that's talked about in the introductory page).
Occasionally I will seek out the "Reiki Master" for guidance and this has been interesting. This spirit has given me a particular message and suggested that I share the message here. I also have the impression there are to be further messages. I experience this spirit as being very very pure and high vibration and it was joyful being in the embrace of that purity.
An Affirmation:
I invoke the Healing Buddha and the Master Spirits of Reiki.
I ask that my channel be pure and clean, without fear, and with honor and
love for all.
