Paying for Reiki healing

Why should we have to pay a healer for Reiki healing? The Reiki energy is free, so by what right does the healer have to make us pay for the healing? Or, how much should we pay our Reiki healer for a Reiki healing?

This is almost identical to the debate that's circled around spiritual practitioners for milennia. Should a spiritual practitioner such as a Priest or Medicine Man charge a fee for performing prayers or healing ceremonies? Or should such spiritual practitioners live in trust that the Universe will supply for their needs?

The theory that "the Universe will supply for ones needs" is related to the model that the energy for Reiki is also supplied by the Universe for free. If our healing, through Reiki, is supplied by the Universe, then so too would be all the requirements we have for living in this society. Right?

That line of thinking is identical to the Buddhist monks who live on whatever items are dropped in their begging bowl, or the sects of Christianity that takes vows of poverty and live completely on whatever resources are given to them freely.

Is this the only valid way for a Reiki Practitioner to enter into the business of offering Reiki Healings? Is this the sort of Reiki Healer you, as a person who desires healing, needs to see?

Some Reiki Healers operate under a different model. They open an office, put out advertising, and take appointments to see clients. Those Reiki healers are in a business, and in this model the client pays the healer for the healing session.

What is the fee for? If the healer is honest, the healer is charging for their time. They have needs to have a place to live, clothes to wear, food to eat, etc. They are giving of their time in order to provide healings. They could be using that time to work in a regular job, and earn a regular living, but they're using that time to provide healings. Their time is valuable or you wouldn't be traveling to see them for healing.

Some healers will be making some kind of promise, that you will be healed if you pay for the healing. Those healers aren't honest.

In the end, what kind of healer do you want to see? What are your expectations around receiving healing? Look for healers that fit your needs and expectations.
